I really don't want to read your rant about US vs. Australian gun laws unless you're willing to show people this chart & talk about it. You can't attribute to the current delta between Australian gun death rates & US ones to the Australian gun ban, b/c that delta was there before 
It is always shocking to me how many articles are written in prominent outlets that attribute the difference in gun death rates between the two countries to the Australian gun ban, & how many smart people swallow this & repeat it without question.
If you're going to write an article like this one by @dylanmatt and not talk about the pre-ban delta, then you are actively spreading misinformation and are part of the problem. vox.com/2015/10/5/9454…
This @dylanmatt piece is especially egregious, because the entire premise is that we won't get to Australian levels of gun deaths without Australian laws, when the difference in number of gun deaths per capita pre-and post-ban IS THE SAME (i.e. 11, depending on year).

What that chart says to me is that there was a cluster there around '90, preceded by and followed by long periods of calm.

Also, if we're going down the road of "let's focus on the before-and-after picture of the ban," then the US had a BIGGER drop after OZ's ban than OZ did. So clearly the answer to US gun deaths is to get OZ to pass another ban.
