Ever wondered why people do bad things and get away with it? Have you ever wondered why you should continue to suffer in doing the right things while those doing the wrong things seem to progress? Are you tempted to yield to wickedness, rudeness, deceit and evil? Don’t. Thread.
You see, a good person suffers occasionally. Suffering forges you and makes you stronger. It also makes you appreciate comfort when it INEVITABLY comes. As someone once said, “The word testimony starts with test.” Don’t believe anyone that says believers cannot suffer.” They lie.
Anybody that preaches “It is not your portion” is a charlatan and a thief. All the prophets and saints had their own portions. If even Jesus had his own portion, who are you not to have yours? The question is: when your portion comes, can you stay the course or will you fold?
Sometimes, people do evil and appear to get away with it. Read the sentence again: They only APPEAR to get away with it. All you will see is this outward appearance. They will also lie to you and boast that all is well with them. They will mock you for trying to do right.
What is not so apparent to you is the misfortune they suffer privately. Those ones they will not come to boast to you about. After all, good people too suffer misfortune. They will say you might as well lie and cheat and suffer, since you will suffer even if you do right.
However, there is a fundamental difference: Peace of Mind. An evildoer never has peace of mind. They are always paranoid because they know what they’ve done. They always think another person is about to do the same to them. They run and hide whenever there’s a knock on the door.
Power and fame cannot buy peace of mind. Indeed, they rob you of the peace of mind you have. Illegally-acquired wealth cannot buy you peace of mind. You are constantly afraid, not knowing when “they” will come for you. When you are broke, I know you’ll choose wealth over peace.
But have you ever wondered why the health of people being tried for fraud suddenly deteriorates? You think they are faking it right? Well, if you know a few of them, like I do, you will know that the heart ailments are real. The misfortunes are real. Their children dying is real.
I don’t know why it happens the way it does. Misfortune doesn’t come only from doing bad things. A lot of good people suffer. We all suffer at certain points in our lives. I’d rather suffer doing right, thinking it’s strengthening me, than doing wrong feeling it’s a punishment.
At the end of it all, the ways of God are not our ways & His thoughts are not our thoughts. There are things you can’t rationalise with logic. All I know is that kindness, courtesy, respect, choosing right over wrong & compassion give peace of mind. I choose that every time. End.
