Folks, @KNBStats is one of the few government bureaus that @IEAKenya gives five star for accuracy of information
Very rarely does it publish incorrect data for mischief and never obfuscates about it's publications
So if you reckon that an unemployment rate of 7.4% is low, then be conscious that @KNBStats has not published that for any political effect
The real issue is that the government adopted definition of employment is very liberal
So what you are disputing is the "definition" of who is employed, and not that @KNBStats is trying to create the impression that the country is job rich
What we should discuss is why the official definition of employment in Kenya is so inconsistent with what Kenyans understand
Asked about the most effeicient bureaus in Kenya, the @IEAKenya mentions the @OAG_Kenya and @KNBStats as the prize winners
The two institutions also share the character of gross underfunding yet doing fantastic work with little cash
So we urge you to adopt @OAG_Kenya and @KNBStats and demand more funding to enable them perform much better
If the @KNBStats had more resources, it would produce data that would create better public understanding of the Kenyan social, economic and demographic reality
We would not only be better for it, we would also realize that @KNBStats data on GDP is usually more accurate than that adopted by the Treausry.
The credibility of the @KNBStats was formed in my view when it cautioned before the last census in 2009 that population of Kenya could not be >40 M as many had estimated
It's true some people sneer at data from @KNBStats but I have seen few point to a specific statistic that was wrong.
Folks, spare me from your claims that @KNBStats is wrong because you think they are. Just point to the wrong information and ask for their clarification
And I understand that it's a big ask for @IEAKenya to recomnd ↑ spending by government bodies but these two seaerve it richly
Savings to ↑ funding for @KNBStats and @OAG_Kenya can be made from closure of dozens of state corporations that would easily be replaced by private sector and charities
And unlike that other body that spent >40 B and couldn't count votes and get us an indisputable result, the @KNBStats knows it's numbers and can count.
