#Russia is discussing/finalising with #Turkey the cease-fire in #Afrin to allow 4000 #SAA men to take control of the entire city, surrounding villages, establish 52 positions in the enclave and deploy forces on the borders with #Turkey.
Thos who believe the deployment of the Syrian army will only be on the 160 km along the borders with #Turkey are mistaken because that was the initial request of the Afrin administration from day one, rejected by the government of #Damascus.
#Few minutes ago, #Damascus was informed that #Turkey is still rejecting few articles in the deal regarding #Afrin. Negotiators are still positive and hope to undo the problem in the next hours.

#Damascus is sending initial 500 local fighters in support of the #Kurds to Afrin today and in the following days.
This initial force is not part of the deal with #Turkey (still contesting the details of the agreement) but a local support from nearby villages and cities, pushed by #Damascus, to stand with the #YPG in #Afrin.

Ex-Nusra (#AQ rebranded HTS) walked into its own death by taking a large territory in #Idlib and its surrounding. The defeat of large groups like Ahrar and Souqourv al-Sham (who showed little resistance) and the elimination of Zinki group will have deadly consequences on AQ.+
No doubt #Turkey asked Ahrar et al to stand down & avoid fighting (for now). It means #Ankara would be happy to see the end of its presence in #Idlib on the long term. For this, Erdogan needs to see a very large battle taking place first in the north between these groups and #AQ
Erdogan & Putin will have a meeting soon to discuss the #Kurds and #AQ in #Idlib. I expect hot spring in Idlib and a large offensive against Hayat Tahrir al-Sham. Abu Mohammad al Joulani's ambition (from ex-ISIS emir to AQ Emir to ruler of Idlib) is helping to end this phenomena.

I can only see positiveness in the expansion of al-Qaeda in #Syria. The more cities and villages it controls, the faster it will lose.

#AQ in Syria is trying to earn the heart and minds of the locals but it is trying to full up their pockets. This group has learned nothing.

1-The Turkish soldiers and their affiliates are running a prostitution network of Kurdish womens in Afrin. One FSA medias was angry at the Turks for arresting one of them (Salah al-Safi) and threatened to expose them if he wasnt released. The Turks refused so they posted proofs
2- They have in their possession a lot of video proofs and pictures which they will release if he isn't free from the Turks prison. This is crazy stuff that the UN is letting happening.This FSA channel is no better wince they are only releasing this for their own agendas #Afrin

A #thread on Turkey’s #Afrin offensive.
This aggression is indirectly connected to #IranProtests because #Russia and Iran are using Turkey for their own interests and Iran in particular wants to silence and weaken its domestic unrest.
Last year when I was in Moscow I told a Syrian Kurdish representative in Moscow that the Kurds must be very careful about Russians as Putin will try to weaken the Kurds in Syria soon. I suggested that she analyses Moscow’s move and report to their HQ in #Rojava.
However, she responded negatively and she accused me of being paranoid. It was then when I wrote this
