The UEFA Champions League quarter-finals include 3 representatives from Spain (Real Madrid, Barcelona & Sevilla), 2 from England (Manchester City & Liverpool), 2 from Italy (Juventus & Roma), and 1 from Germany (Bayern Munich). Some financial comparisons in the following thread.
The Champions League quarter-finalists include 4 of the top 5 Money League clubs (those with the highest revenue). The exception is Manchester United, who were eliminated in the last 16 by Sevilla, the only club not featuring in the Money League Top 30.
In terms of revenue, the two Spanish giants lead the way (Real Madrid £580m & Barcelona £557m), followed by Bayern Munich £505m and Manchester City £454m. There is then a big gap to Liverpool £365m and Juventus £349m with the clear outliers being Roma £150m and Sevilla £122m.
Seven of the Champions League quarter-finalists are profitable, though Manchester City only just broke-even. The highest profit before tax was made by Bayern Munich £57m, followed by Juventus £50m and Liverpool £40m. The only club to report a loss was Roma £(31)m.
All the Champions League quarter-finalists made good money from player sales with the highest profits at Juventus £120m, mainly thanks to Paul Pogba’s move to Manchester United. The next highest was Roma £81m, due to Salah to Liverpool, Rüdiger to Chelsea and Paredes to Zenit.
By far the highest wage bills of the Champions League quarter-finalists are Real Madrid £324m and Barcelona £292m. The next 4 clubs (Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Juventus & Liverpool) are in a £200-250m range, while Roma £125m and Sevilla £86m are a long way behind.
