From full EU to just SM or CU or worse FTA (WTO only would be criminal disaster capitalism at its finest) will cause mammoth border delays...it is also self inflicting automatic increased trading barriers with our most important trade and enough to finish JiT industries;
the increased customs needs paperwork will cripple smaller export/import businesses esp with MORE 'red tape' not less; T1 status and bonds, Guarantees & Certs of Origin, Carnets, Export Entries etc such fun & such cost. Export entries are so the UK can record export stats.
For EU 'despatches' recorded on monthly/quarterly VAT Intrastat form. .AND cannot avoid resurrected border with infrastructure in Ireland without both parties being under 1 same trading policy jurisdiction (so both NI & ROI stay in the EU *single* market or ROI rejoins UK)
..oh and we'd need to build new port to replace Rotterdam as would fall other side of SM/CU "wall" becoming unavailable. Irish not waiting around: already making plans to avoid Holyhead (geologically impossible to expand) direct to continent/expanding Cork to be new USA/EU bridge
this is good at demonstrating the practicalities of being out of just the CU...now mulitply that again if out of SM ..and yet again for out of both (a FTA) .
this lady has expertise in customs requirements for goods not in/out of the EU
..and this will be something that will accelerate until Labour (I hope) has the political courage to tell the GB public the truth
