Your semi-regular reminder that the president of the United States publicly and privately leaning on the people running an investigation into his associates is not a normal or good thing.
Probably a good idea not to pretend to believe the people still pretending to be upset about the Bill Clinton-Loretta Lynch tarmac meeting.
Related note: this @ThePlumLineGS piece on what the Comey media tour exposes about the media's 2016 coverage details how Comey didn't think the tarmac meeting was a big deal, but reacted sharply to the media's coverage of it: washingtonpost.com/amphtml/blogs/…
As Sargent details, Comey acknowledges that it would have been reasonable not to do the July press conference, but he was reacting in part to the cable news coverage of the tarmac meeting.
Fear of media attacks are also likely at the root of his decision to send the letter about the Weiner laptop, which triggered a new wave of overwrought coverage that likely swung the election.
nearly two years after that tarmac meeting, we have the president openly interfering, in public and private, with an investigation into his associates. And conservatives who freaked out -- and continue to criticize -- that meeting, don't seem to have a problem with that.
Seems pretty telling!
