In the car yesterday with my 12 & 14yo, and the 12yo said there were hundreds of daisies at school so everyone was sitting around making daisy chains. Somehow everyone knows how to make daisy chains. We then started discussing those other little skills we pick up as children
like clicking your fingers or using a blade of grass like a reed instrument, whistling loudly through your fingers, or hooting through the knuckles of your thumbs.
Well, they can both whistle through their lips, and one of them can do the blade of grass trick because @ThatPhotoBloke taught him, but other than the daisy chain that’s about it. And it got me thinking about idle hands.
And I’m not being all anti-tech here, but my kids don’t have idle hands any more because they’ve got phones, and god knows I’m the same. So in idle moments they don’t practise whistling through their fingers, they check what their friends are up to.
