1. Any political party which considers @PatriciaDeLille an assert had better observe her record. When she left PAC, she undermined them. She started and left (a crippled) ID in pursuit of her own interests. @Our_DA is destructive but she is no less, so. Principle or egos?
2. It’s important to study the function of patriarchy & race in @PatriciaDeLille’s struggles with political parties. What lessons can we learn from her experiences? Equally, it would be disingenuous to overlook De Lille’s leadership style and politics.
3. During her tenure as Mayor of CT @PatriciaDeLille has not pushed a pro poor agenda. In fact, she has been very comfortable with @Our_DA’s race, class and gender politics. She didn’t just toe the line, she was part of defining that line. You don’t believe me?
4. Study her period closely. Look at deals made by @CityofCT. What was @PatriciaDeLille’s position on sale of public land to private developers? How close did she keep with poor people in WC? Shouldn’t we look at the terrible evictions and displacements of Lwandle people? @Our_DA
5. I could take it further into that uncomfortable realm of ‘ethnic’ politics. Study ID closely. Look at the people who left with her into @Our_DA. In fact, I am thinking back to @PatriciaDeLille’s consultations on the formation of ID. Look at who she spoke to & how?
6. @PatriciaDeLille is bold, fearless and strong. I admire her for this. However, there is such a thing as being too strong for a productive collaboration with others. This can be detrimental in politics and in real life.
7. As for @Our_DA top leadership, what can I say? Most are proving not to be only tone deaf on race, class & gender. They scheming misogynoir-ists. I worry about a country led by some of these people. The ANC is not the only problematic party.
