The Beveridge Curve has now looped all the way back to where it began. Almost like forecasts of counter-clockwise cycles -- rather than a structural shift -- were spot on.
And if you're not sure whether to believe the low unemployment rate, realize that the quit rate tells a consistent story. The labor market has largely healed.
Lemme point out 3 things can be true at the same time:
1. The labor market is doing well—better than its historical average.
2. This is the result of slow but relentless progress since the recession.
3. Too many people are still left out and we must imagine ways to do better.
