1/ @elonmusk is trying to dismiss our story about serious safety problems at the company’s factory.

Musk has misrepresented our findings in order to try to tear them down.
2/ We found that Tesla reduced standard safety signals like yellow paint & forklift beeps because of Musk's preferences.

Multiple former members of Tesla's environment, health and safety team said this was common knowledge. Some factory supervisors said the same thing.
3/ Safety professionals, hired by Tesla to oversee safety, determined there should be more yellow for pedestrian safety, but were told "Elon does not like the color."

Forklift beeps were sometimes disabled when Musk was around, we were told, because he didn't like the noise.
4/ Musk claims our story is false because there *is* some yellow in the factory, as well as forklifts that beep.

But we never claimed there was no yellow or no beeps – only that they were minimized to meet his preferences. And that safety pros said it was a problem.
5/ Meanwhile, workers on the factory floor have been smashed by forklifts and tuggers. Listen to our podcast to hear one of the 911 calls: revealnews.org/episodes/tesla…
6/ @elonmusk hasn't addressed this head-on. Nor has he addressed systemic problems, like the lack of safety training, that we found.

Instead, he called it "carefully constructed propaganda":

7/ One safety lead, in charge of general assembly, appealed to Musk's office directly, writing, “I know what can keep a person up at night regarding safety. I must tell you that I can’t sleep here at Tesla.” She never heard back.

Here's our story:
revealnews.org/article/tesla-…
8/ She quit last year because she was so disillusioned with how Tesla handled worker safety. She noted the yellow issue in her resignation letter.
9/ But this is not the account of 1 person. 5 former members of the EHS team told us Tesla prioritized production over safety, putting workers at risk.

(We also talked to dozens of current & former employees and reviewed hundreds of documents to confirm their accounts.)
10/ We reached out to these health and safety professionals independently.

They were reluctant, even scared, to talk.

They had nothing to do with any unionization effort, which wouldn't affect them anyway.
11/ They spoke out, they said, because they were truly worried about the conditions in Tesla's factory, and hoped that it would make a difference.
