Sen. Elizabeth Warren is now speaking at the Festival of Homiletics in Washington, D.C., recounting a story of when she taught 5th grade Sunday school.

Warren: “There is God in every one of us … I fight to uplift and protect the divine in every single person.”
Warren is now straight-up reading Matthew 25 from a King James Bible.
Warren is now literally waving a Bible in the air as she calls on those present to fight for “the least of these,” arguing “the Lord says to the sheep: get up and act!”

She adds: “I know I am — literally — preaching to the choir.” (The crowd guffaws)
Warren now naming major progressive protests as “righteous fights.”

Says the Women’s March was saying “all of God’s people matter.”

Of the protests in airports after the travel ban: “We were fulfilling the Lord’s commandment to love or neighbors as ourselves.”
Also lists the fight to save the Affordable Care Act, efforts to protect Dreamers, the protests led by Parkland students, and opposing economic injustice.

“When we fight righteous fights we get stronger with every battle!” she shouts.
Now leading the crowd in chanting together “our fight is a righteous fight.”

The crowd of preachers is loving this.
Closes with Galatians 6:9, adding, “it is a blessing to be here.”

Crowd rises for a standing ovation.
