On Feb 5, 2018, The Conservative Treehouse broke a story that Carter Page was an undercover employee for the FBI. theconservativetreehouse.com/2018/02/05/in-… At the time, I read the article and found the claim plausible but unproven. I am now going on record saying it was incorrect.
The basis of the claim was an excerpt from a DoJ Press Release regarding the conviction of Evgeny Buryakov, a Russian national, for a violation of FARA, in that he had failed to register as an agent of a foreign country.
In the article, Sundance highlighted a portion that stated that the UCE-1 mentioned in the court case was an “analyst from a New York-based energy company”, which is a fair description of Carter Page. Other articles cited also mentioned his work in energy, “proving” the case.

(Thread) This may be some of the biggest Trump/Russia news yet. @Edkrassen and myself have been looking into this for the last week. It all ties into the Memo and what appears to be the REAL reason the FBI and DOJ were so angry about its release. That reason is CARTER PAGE! (1)
To most of us, Carter Page is an ignorant, half-witted Trump advisor with ties to the Russian oil industry. The media has practically made him out to be an idiot who got in way over his head. The problem with this narrative is that he is incredibly smart. (2)
In fact he graduated in the top 10% of his class at the Naval Academy and went on to work at high level positions for Merrill Lynch. He also served on the House Armed Services Committee and was in the Navy for 5 years. (3)
