#Islamophobia, subtle or overt, latent or virulent, is not a friend.

My 30’s and 40’s I lost 100+ people to suicide, overdose, etc. I remember a #LGBTQ+ fellow organizer grieving with me about @brandonlacycamp — that was 10 years ago. It was her first such loss. Not mine by far (tho he was a bestie so it was brutal).

Our #LGBTQ communities (plural) are diverse. We don’t live identical lives or have the same struggles. We each have our own journeys, facing hate + bigotry. Trauma. Homelessness. Murder. Sexual violence. Chaotic drug and alcohol use.

My mom or one of her relatives from Crete gave me a tiny silver labrys (or pelekys / πέλεκυς). I later learned lesbians claimed the symbol too.
