I think this is a grasshopper...? Image According to The Amateur Entomologists' Society (see link below), I think this is def'ly a grasshopper.

A cricket would have longer antennae, according to their guide.

🧵 A thread - Part 1 - My perspective on the dance betw empaths and narcissists, based on my experience.

TRIGGER WARNING// abuse, trauma, painful relationships, childhood adversity

Every tweet has a disclaimer. This is to protect you and to protect me. /1 Based on my experience, narcissists and empaths have some things in common.

Often (but not always) they have both experienced one or more significant traumas in childhood, or had ongoing adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). /2

1/ Thoughts about intimacy in the era of COVID...

First I'll share the serious stuff. In recent months as I reflected on being a #HighRiskCovid19 person, & the ongoing pandemic, I realized that if I were ever to date again, it might be difficult to find someone who would 2/ be willing to take precautions to keep me safe throughout the dating process. I'd need to wear a mask during the first few dates. I'd have to put off simple things like kissing until they took a Covid test. While dating, I'd need them to wear a mask whenever they were out

1/ Many of us are chronically ill or disabled and we may not be able to march in the streets to protest SCOTUS' betrayal of women's rights. How about we create a hashtag like, 'VirtualDisabilityMarchProtestOverturningRoevWade'? Something shorter would be better, but we want to 2/ make sure folks know what we're protesting. Very short acronyms may not be clear to everyone. We want our hashtag to be easily understood by everyone, even folks who are not as soc. med. literate.

1/ We need to do more for Ukraine. I admit that because my family's origins are from that part of the world, I might feel this more keenly than others. But we have to do more. Kharkiv is surrounded and the Russians are sending thousands more troops. It's so painful to watch 2/ this tragedy unfold and I feel helpless. Most of my relatives came from the region where Belarus, Lithuania, Ukraine, and Poland meet. I can donate to charities and I can pray, and RT news about the war, but Putin will massacre Ukrainians regardless.

1/ 🧵 Check out this table of endocrine disrupting chemicals in the air, from a 2018 study

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…

Link to study's journal article:
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P… 2/ When you scan that table (link in tweet 1 in thread), you'll see that 2 of those endocrine disrupting chemicals are released by synthetic fragrances - phthlates and synthetic musk. What are the effects of these 2 chemicals on human health?

1/🧵 I think Chris Rock wouldn't have made a joke about Jada's illness if more folks were educated about the high prevalence of autoimmune & other chronic disorders.

#chronicillness #Spoonies #autoimmune #Alopecia #women #health #ChronicPain #chronic #illness #SickNotWeak 2/ As a woman who lives with multiple immune-related disorders, when a comedian makes a joke about chronic illness, I feel unseen...not just for me, but for all my fellow #chronicfolks. Does Chris Rock have any idea what Jada goes through to live with alopecia? Probably not.
