It is #MentalHealthMonday.

If you are reading this, and are honest with yourself, you likely overdose on screen time.

We all do. And it's awful for us.

Here are 5 ways I cut my screen time down by more than 3 hours a day (some more drastic than others).

๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡
2/ Most people spend 8-12 hours a day looking at a screen, 5x that of our family of 50 years ago.

It is destroying our brains.

It takes recognizing the addiction and applying extreme discipline to make sustainable changes.

Here are 5 things I did ๐Ÿ‘‡
3/ 1. Set a goal and monitor your data.

Like exercise, you are far more likely to find success if you set achievable goals and monitor your progress utilizing data.

Mine was cutting 3 hours a day.

Mobile devices, laptops, and even many TVs provide detailed screen time data.

Hopefully everyone had a good first Monday of 2022!

A lot of us have some (hefty) New Yearโ€™s resolutions that weโ€™re kicking off today. And as many of us know, theyโ€™re not always the easiest to follow through with... ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
This year, rather than giving up if you slip up once (missing one gym session, one day of journaling, etc.), be kind to yourself. Forgive yourself, and carry on.

Messing up is a part of success. No one is perfect in pursuit of their goals.
โ€œFailure,โ€ in reality, is not failing at all. It means you are pushing yourself past your normal limits, improving, and making progress in pursuit of your goals. In other words, if you arenโ€™t failing, you arenโ€™t working on your resolution.

REFLECTIONS ON FORGIVENESS // FORGIVENESS OF SELF // NO CONDEMNATION IN CHRIST JESUS // ROMANS 8:1

Happy Saturday, beloved family! I hope your weekend has been off to an excellent start! ๐ŸŒ…โ˜€๏ธโค๏ธ
Our focus text for today, comes to us from Romans chapter 8, which focuses on life in the Spirit.

In verse 1, we have THE blessed assurance from God, that there is indeed NO CONDEMNATION FOR THOSE WHO ARE IN CHRIST JESUS.
To be โ€œin Christ Jesusโ€ means that He dwells within us, & us within Him. We are ONE.
So, by sending His own son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins, God made sure that there is NO CONDEMNATION for us.

THREAD: Today, 8/17, should've been #MichelleCusseauxโ€™s 56th birthday. In her honor, we told stories of Black women killed by police when help was needed & killers came.

If we don't fight for Black women now, we'll have more stories like these. The following policies would help:
We make the call to defund the police and divert those resources back to where they were taken from: mental health services, domestic violence services, shelters for people without homes, education, and increasing jobs #MentalHealthMonday
We make the call to end the practice of sending officers to mental health and domestic disturbance calls. Officers should not be first responders to mental health crisis calls #MentalHealthMonday

Hey all! I like to spend time Monday doing a weekly check-in with myself. I am excited to be planning lectures for the first class I'm teaching this fall but also pretty anxious! How are all of you?

#MentalHealthMonday
I feel that when I look at the previous week and acknowledge how I was feeling about work, it can help me break out of bad cycles such as feeling down on myself if I think I wasn't as productive or feeling afraid of something I have been putting off. Especially now, I feel that
a week can quickly become a month so a weekly check in with myself and acknowledging "Maybe I didn't accomplish all my goals last week and that's why I am feeling bad and that's okay. This week maybe I will try something else" helps break things up and gets me a fresh start. It's
