Hopefully everyone had a good first Monday of 2022!

A lot of us have some (hefty) New Year’s resolutions that we’re kicking off today. And as many of us know, they’re not always the easiest to follow through with... 😬
This year, rather than giving up if you slip up once (missing one gym session, one day of journaling, etc.), be kind to yourself. Forgive yourself, and carry on.

Messing up is a part of success. No one is perfect in pursuit of their goals.
“Failure,” in reality, is not failing at all. It means you are pushing yourself past your normal limits, improving, and making progress in pursuit of your goals. In other words, if you aren’t failing, you aren’t working on your resolution.

Happy Saturday, beloved family! I hope your weekend has been off to an excellent start! 🌅☀️❤️
Our focus text for today, comes to us from Romans chapter 8, which focuses on life in the Spirit.

In verse 1, we have THE blessed assurance from God, that there is indeed NO CONDEMNATION FOR THOSE WHO ARE IN CHRIST JESUS.
To be “in Christ Jesus” means that He dwells within us, & us within Him. We are ONE.
So, by sending His own son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins, God made sure that there is NO CONDEMNATION for us.

Blessed Friyay morning to you all, beloved children of God! 🌅☀️❤️
Our focus today will be within 1st John , chapter 3. This chapter deals EXCLUSIVELY with our identities as children of God. We are encouraged to strive to be a people of ethical integrity & to live a life that is reflective of our spiritual identity.
In verse 20, we are reminded of the truth that God is actually GREATER THAN OUR HEART. People of God, this is a quite profound assertion! 🤯🤯🤯

I SO respect & appreciate @ZJAyres sharing this today. There is ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY nothing wrong with taking medication to improve your #mentalhealth . I used to be vehemently opposed to taking psychotropic medication…
because of stigma & my Christian upbringing. NOW, based on my own lived experiences & through seeking out EXTENSIVE knowledge in the #mentalhealth space, I have a VERY different view of #mentalhealth & medications than most followers of Christ do.
Here’s the thing. Often times, people NEED medication to bring back the levels of their brain chemicals to where it needs to be. And that’s totally OK. Everyone’s condition is a little bit different.

I have a lot of clients struggling with isolation, especially during COVID. They often feel as though something is wrong with them for not wanting to be more socially engaged. A lot of the work I do looks at human behavior through an evolutionary lens. If we look at social...
behavior this way, it's hard to see why we would have evolved any drive to aggressively seek interaction with others. In the early era of nomadic humans, we were always surrounded by others. Our fellow humans were just THERE. Sure, we have a strong drive to stay together, but...
seeking others is not hard-wired. In fact, it would make sense that we DON'T want to seek others in an effort to avoid any form of tribal conflict. In modern society, however, we have to WORK to socialize with others unless we happen to be highly extroverted...

THREAD: Today, 8/17, should've been #MichelleCusseaux’s 56th birthday. In her honor, we told stories of Black women killed by police when help was needed & killers came.

If we don't fight for Black women now, we'll have more stories like these. The following policies would help:
We make the call to defund the police and divert those resources back to where they were taken from: mental health services, domestic violence services, shelters for people without homes, education, and increasing jobs #MentalHealthMonday
We make the call to end the practice of sending officers to mental health and domestic disturbance calls. Officers should not be first responders to mental health crisis calls #MentalHealthMonday

Hey all! I like to spend time Monday doing a weekly check-in with myself. I am excited to be planning lectures for the first class I'm teaching this fall but also pretty anxious! How are all of you?

I feel that when I look at the previous week and acknowledge how I was feeling about work, it can help me break out of bad cycles such as feeling down on myself if I think I wasn't as productive or feeling afraid of something I have been putting off. Especially now, I feel that
a week can quickly become a month so a weekly check in with myself and acknowledging "Maybe I didn't accomplish all my goals last week and that's why I am feeling bad and that's okay. This week maybe I will try something else" helps break things up and gets me a fresh start. It's

Thread: on this #MentalHealthMonday I want to get a bit personal and describe what is is like to have my disorder. I hope that by taking a chance and doing this it opens people's eyes to what this feels like. And helps those who still are not sure about speaking up. /1
Hi I'm Tynisa and I have Schizophrenia. But I also get a double whammy of having Bipolar tendencies as well. The doctors officially call this condition SchizoAffective Disorder. I know there are technical ways to describe this illness. But id rather show a more human view. /2
I have always been what is now classified as introverted growing up. Much preferring my own company, or a book than dealing with others. Growing up in a large boisterous family who loved gatherings is bittersweet for me. I often felt out of place and worn out from such things. /3
