Our focus today will be within 1st John , chapter 3. This chapter deals EXCLUSIVELY with our identities as children of God. We are encouraged to strive to be a people of ethical integrity & to live a life that is reflective of our spiritual identity.
In verse 20, we are reminded of the truth that God is actually GREATER THAN OUR HEART. People of God, this is a quite profound assertion! ๐คฏ๐คฏ๐คฏ
In contemporary culture, we are often told โFOLLOW YOUR HEART!โ. Yet, beloved people, how many times have our hearts led us astray? I know that for me, personally, this has happened to me more times than Iโd like to admit.
Hereโs the truth:
If God is INDEED greater than our hearts, we CAN & SHOULD submit our hearts to His WILL & His WAY COMPLETELY.

Now, in terms of โForgiveness of Selfโ, Iโve been guilty of listening to my own heartโs condemnation of myself on several occasions. When Iโve sinned in the past, Iโve ALWAYS been the HARDEST on myself.
Thatโs simply because Iโm listening to, & following my own heart. Whenever I get into such a deep state of SELF-CONDEMNATION, it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to bring myself out of it. And NOONE ELSE can do that work for me either.
It is ONLY through COMPLETE surrender to God, & by ACCEPTING that He is INDEED GREATER THAN MY HEART, that He LOVES ME STEADFASTLY, & DIED & ROSE AGAIN, so that we might be UNITED, that I am able to once again SEE MYSELF as His BELOVED CHILD.
Only then, am I able to completely FORGIVE MYSELF for my slip-ups, become RECONCILED to God & start to REBUILD our relationship as Father & daughter.
It is the Fatherโs heart for us, that weโd ALL realize this truth & FORGIVE OURSELVES whenever we fall short of His glory.
Dear Lord,
We pray today that weโd NEVER forget that YOU ARE GREATER THAN OUR HEART. That YOU HAVE THE FINAL SAY CONCERNING US. That YOUR LOVE FOR US IS STEADFAST. That YOU DIED & ROSE AGAIN, so that we can be together.
