1. I know it's hard for regular folks to keep up with the dribs and drabs of info on the Russiagate narrative, and put it all into a cohesive story to understand the bigger picture. Once all the tidbits are compiled, it's quite obvious its been a #witchhunt.

2. Without rehashing the entire story, I will point out the major fallacies by directing your attention to some critical work by others. The lies we've been told by the NYT & WaPo have become so ingrained in the public conciseness it will take a Herculean effort to change it.
3. The Dossier was the focus for all of 2017, until we learned it was junk, paid for by HRC. No problem. Switch to the Papadop story, which has been the focus for the last 6 months. Now that story has been completely dismantled, as explained by @JohnWHuber
4. What is left? Well, the narrative for the last few days has been that they had "spies" near the campaign because they were concerned about contacts with Russian agents. Just one problem, the "Russian agent" is most likely a Western Intel operative.👇

5. The last line of defense, as an excuse for investigating Trump, is to resort to Intelligence intercepts by GCHQ (British NSA) in 2015, as reported by the Guardian and CNN. As you can see from these snapshots, there is not much to go on. 
6. If contact with "Russian individuals" or "suspected Russian agents" is a cause for investigating a presidential candidate, the Clinton's would be prime suspect number #1. They had a lot more than contact, they received millions. Here is just one example from a WaPo story.
7. But the Russians hacked the emails, you say. We don't know that for sure either. The FBI has never done forensics on the server, and the firm that did? Well, see for yourself.
8. So, in conclusion, we can see that no part of the MSM (Democrat) narrative holds water. What then are we to conclude? The DOJ allowed an "investigation" into Donald Trump to be started with nothing, and they have permitted it to continue for more than 2 years, destroying lives

I think I will default to @SharylAttkisson's reasoning to answer that question since she obviously has many more intelligence sources than I do.
