2. Orders in Council are a type of legislation made by our unelected monarch
3. Orders of Council are made by the Privy Council. 650 people who include elected politicians, unelected ex-politicians, unelected Bishops, unelected Archbishops, unelected Lords, unelected Judges, unelected Earls, the unelected Lord Chamberlain, and an unelected Prince Philip.

7. Then there is the technical regulation proposed, and made, either by unelected technocrats in unelected government departments such as the unelected NMRO and the unelected MHRA…
8. Or unelected technocrats in unelected independent non-governmental agencies, such as the unelected Food Standards Agency.
9. Then there is civil service secondary legislation from agencies like the unelected Highways England who need legislation to close a part of M25

15. And the UK isn't alone. Take the US. There is the Appointments Clause. Article II, Section 2, Clause 2 of the United States Constitution allowing Presidential Appointment needing Senate confirmation (PAS)
16. There is around 1200-1400 positions that require Senate confirmation...or at least that is what the Congressional Research Service estimated in 2012.
17. All to run unelected independent agencies like the unelected Environmental Protection Agency and the unelected Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
18. If we are going to have democracy then we must have governance, and in governance, not everybody is elected. Sometimes they are appointed. Sometimes their appointment is voted on by elected people, like the EU Parliament or the US Senate.
19. As it stands, we are always going to have unelected people in our government, whatever happens.
20. The only difference is, in the future, it is more likely we will be following rules that were voted on by people we didn't elect.
