Public and private ledgers are a useful access model distinction that's not going anywhere. What should disappear is the association of [public = decentralized = proletariat = good] and [private = centralized = big business = bad]. coindesk.com/public-private…
We all know "public" projects that are actually very centralized, and there are lots of uses for private side chains that aren't bank consortiums. Sharding might address some of this (someday), but not all. And (😮) not all p2p applications need a blockchain. Shocking, I know.
Censorship resistant payments on a public ledger is a "killer app" just as Usenet & email was for the Internet: fundamental; revolutionary; great. But if you told the CEO of Blockbuster about Netflix on my phone in 2000, he'd probably say magic internet dust won't solve anything.
Shameless plug: And if this sounds reasonable to you, check out @GrowClovyr. We're not just dropping press quotes, we're building plumbing. And we're hiring. ☘️
