The Lawyers for Good Government Foundation, along with a national coalition of law firms led by Kirkland & Ellis LLP, are launching Project Corazon, a program designed to help reunite children taken from their parents by the Trump administration. /1

Traci Feit Love, President and Executive Director of L4GG-More than 2,300 children have been taken...There is no clear plan to help these kids get back to their families - or even to keep parents informed as to the whereabouts of their children. This is unacceptable. /2

Working with immigration legal services providers, volunteer lawyers, interpreters, and law firms across the country, Project Corazon is establishing a system that will allow frightened parents a confidential route for obtaining legal support in the search for their children. /3

When appropriate, Project Corazon will reach out to the government on behalf of parents to obtain information about the location of missing children. /4

In the months ahead, the Lawyers for Good Government Foundation plans to send at least 60 volunteer lawyers to detention centers near the border to help detained parents prepare for their credible fear interviews, /5

document the circumstances surrounding parents’ separation from their children, and offer support for those still seeking information about the whereabouts of their children. /6

Project Corazon’s leadership team is also reaching out to other organizations, law firms, and lawyers working on reuniting the families separated by the administration’s “zero-tolerance” policy, /7

hoping to share resources where possible and work collaboratively to ensure that these families are made whole as quickly as possible. /8
