Part II of the third summit between Xi and KJU. Here's the same NK general who created controversy, defense minister Roh Gwang-chol, doing the same military salute at another summit. This is a big entourage: about twice the hangers-on that accompanied KJU to the 1st & 2nd summits
The summit was strategically important enough for China that the state guest already in China, Bolivian President Evo Morales, was given the bum's rush: he departed 1 day early so Xi could fête KJU. This is the same Morales accusing US of "interventionism"

Wife Ri Sol-ju going sleveless noted by SK analysts: "Ri has softened KJU's ruthless image (killer of uncle & half-brother) by painting her marriage as normal." All this while KJU walks around in summer-wear (aka KIS wear) to remind whom he descended from
Ri is considered a fashion plate so whatever she wears will be seen as trendy: the red here is the party color of both countries. NK women now have something to say when authorities object to them wearing something sleeveless or wearing fashionably red Western wear.
Btw they're photographed in front of a tree planted on Oct 2, 1959 by Kim Il Sung. They're standing in front of the tree and the panel which identifies the original Great Leader, referred to in NK as "suryong" (수령 首領). Only KIS is called that. What happens next is important
KCTV quotes KJI: "Xi is an outstanding 'suryong' and is our closest friend." What does this mean? Remember in NK the only suryong is KIS; in China there was Mao Zedong. This implies Xi is a great leader and KJU endorses the lifetime, Mao-like tenure Xi just won to become Emperor.
KJU did that at the expense of somewhat diminishing grandpa and KJI. Indeed he will prolly start calling himself 'suryong' also and one analyst says Rodong already called him "mom & pop suryong," a term used to indicate Great Leaders are in fact greater than one's parents
Haven't seen it yet so can't comment. But that's the level of intimacy KJU seems to have established with Xi and is trying to showcase to the outside world (if they can get it). But does that mean NK is firmly back in China's orbit and is not dislodgeable? Not really.
Before all this happened, Thae Yong-ho was asked what NK will get out of the US-NK summit if it isn't gonna denuclearize. There's the pageantry and PR: normalize NK and soften KJU's image. But the utmost, he said, was leverage the occasion and "use China"
