The NYT story about Ali Watkins and James Wolfe sure emphasizes the actions of the very young female reporter ... while making it sound like the much older, more powerful, married man who made the first move was somehow not making choices himself.
The 2004 assault charges made by his first wife (including strangulation) were dropped ... if not he might not have been in the job where he thought it was okay to give a college student a Valentine’s Day card and pearl bracelet.
The young female reporter’s “highly unethical conduct presents a problem for press defenders,” wrote late-60 Fox News contributor Michael Goodwin in the NY Post. Interestingly, he met his wife when she worked in NYC govt and he was City Hall bureau chief. crainsnewyork.com/ny-power-coupl…
Back to Wolfe and Watkins, there are a lot of questions about if she disclosed the relationship in the right way to her employers while Wolfe was “refusing to disclose their relationship to his own employers in the Senate.”
She briefly dated another staff member at the Senate Intelligence Committee. Not the best move. However, Wolfe — the guy with the top-secret access — more creepily tried to move on to another young reporter. 
I wonder if any other young female reporters have stories to tell.
