“House and care for an alien family population of up to 12,000 people.”

Why is a news network speaking in government euphemism?

This language looks indistinguishable from a DOD press release.
It is not necessary to use government or military euphemism and jargon to convey the news in an even manner.

Using deceptive language doesn’t make one neutral; it makes on tilt toward power.
Somebody give the network’s social media intern a copy of George Orwell’s “Politics and the English Language.”
One of the problems plaguing contemporary journalism is that many of its practitioners passionately believe that neutrality means avoiding language that may interfere with digesting your dinner.
Rather than, you know, language that best describes objective reality.
