The Economic Lessons of Star Trek’s Money-Free Society
wired.com/2016/05/geeks-…
It seems to me that if we wanted to devise a better socio-economic system, we should start with an understanding of where we want to end up, and try to build a bridge to that future.
Bertrand Russell suggested:
"The supreme principle, both in politics and in private life, should be to promote all that is creative, and so to diminish the impulses and desires that center round possession."
Also Russell:
"The principal source of the harm done by the State is the fact that power is its chief end."

I hesitate to express what my utopia would look like, because it opens me to criticism of its impracticality. I think we should all indulge our own utopianism.
That's my favorite part of #sciencefiction. It gives us permission to expose our ideas of utopia or dystopia to others, to create real characters to inhabit these worlds, and inspire others to create better paths.
"If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them."
- Henry David Thoreau.
