DC federal judge entered a preliminary injunction today that essentially orders ICE to follow its own policies re: parole process for asylum-seekers who make it through the "credible fear" stage assets.documentcloud.org/documents/4570…
The plaintiffs are asylum seekers who passed a credible fear determination but are still being held by the US government — they argue they haven't received the kind of individualized parole assessment that ICE is supposed to do
The judge noted stats put forward by the plaintiffs that showed the percentage of asylum seekers in five ICE districts who passed a credible fear interview and were granted parole was nearing zero. The govt's response to those numbers was "underwhelming at best," the judge wrote
