Saraki is a very good Striker.

This is a counter attack move that will help our democracy.

Initially, I was against 'State Police' but a VAR review of recent security developments in the country shows it's the right decision to take.
The primary purpose of any government is the protection of LIFE and PROPERTY.

But unfortunately, the Buhari led govt is bent on relegating this responsibility to 3rd division.

NASS must urgently evolve ways to help us survive this relegation immediately.
Even in football, Rules are constantly reviewed to address new challenges and enhance the beauty of the game in an ever changing world

We now have Goal line technology
We now have VAR

In Nigeria, there is now a compelling need to review our security architecture and Policing
As a nation, we have wailed enough about Restructuring

Restructuring is not an oral activity.

It begins with a practical and concerned effort towards reviewing the very legal framework upon which our institutions are built.

It begins with our laws
It begins with NASS.
Permit me to continue with my football analogy,

A glimpse of our nation's VAR on Security is disturbing

We run a Federal state where the federating units have to cry to the center for help

Govs wear the captain's arm band of "Chief Security Officer" without commensurate value
Our Governors wear the captain's arm band of CSO but can't even exercise control over their ADCs.

They don't even have powers over a DPO.

The situation is akin to having a football captain who has no right whatsoever to caution his defenders.
The biggest argument against "State Police" is that governors will abuse it.

But the reality on ground now is that the Federal Govt is abusing the same powers with far more devastating consequences on the masses.

This leads me to the central premise of this thread
Recently, we have been grappling with the harsh reality of living in a country where citizens are increasingly massacred in thousands and nothing happens.

Govt issues statements
Citizens wail

And the culprits head for their next target.
In Benue, Plateau, Zamfara, Taraba,

We have seen the obvious helplessness of our "CSOs" in the face of attacks against their own people

More disturbing is the fact that they have to seek help from FG to enforce a Law validly enacted by people's representatives in the state.
Recently, a notable statesman and Retired Geheral, T Y Danjuma, told the world that the Army is colluding with the perpetrators of these killings.

He called on the People to Rise and protect themselves.

The people can only achieve this legally through State Police.
With state police, the state can protect its indigenes from invaders.

With state police, we will not approach elections with fears that the party at the center will deploy "Federal Might" to their advantage.

There will be balance of forces and inadvertently a fair election.
It is never in doubt that "State Policing" in a clime like ours may be laden with a lot of pitfalls.

However, such fears is not enough to make us jettison the idea which is an essential component of a truly federal state.

NASS can tailor the law to avert such pitfalls.
I sincerely commend the Saraki led Senate for coming up with this "State and Community Policing" constitution amendment initiative

We can't be begging Mr. President to act.

Something Concrete and revolutionary needs to be done.

We need to change Formation or lose woefully
