/ Let's clear up some $TSLA bull misinformation floating around Twitter and certain podcasts these last few days. It involves Moody's and their recent downgrade of Tesla's bonds.
/ $TSLA sold the bonds to investors in August 2017 based on the ramp of Model 3. They basically said we'll average 5,000 per week, and showed this chart at the infamous reveal.
/ When Moody's published their initial rating of the offering in August, they specifically said the rating was based on $TSLA management guidance. The rating depended on their ability to (1) get to 5k per week by 2018, and (2) to keep it there for the year.
/ They were even nice enough to specifically say what would trigger a downgrade. Again, the Model 3 ramp is key. $TSLA
/ How did $TSLA do against these specific goals? On January 3, 2018, they published their production results. You tell me. It was inevitable that Moody's had to downgrade.
/ They were nice enough to wait about three months to do so. Even by then, it was very clear that $TSLA was nowhere near a *sustained* rate of 5k Model 3s per week. As Moody's kindly explained in their downgrade.
/ It is not a conspiracy guys. $TSLA management sold bonds based on a promise. They didn't *execute* against their promise. Moody's told everybody well in advance what would happen. Period. <end of thread>
