Rewatching the first episode of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic and I have Questions.
Nobody believes the old legend that Princess Luna/Nightmare Moon was imprisoned on the moon1000 years ago by her sister the current ruler of Equestria, Princess Celestia. Couldn't they just... ask Princess Celestia what happened to her sister?
Princess Celestia doesn't look old, despite predating the sun. The only pony who looks old is Granny Smith, who is wrinkled and hobbles. Is G.S. even older than P.C.? Maybe she remembers the old legend. If not, if normal ponies age, where are the other old ponies?
Let's go back to Princess Celestia being in charge of making the sun and moon rise. Does she literally control the rotation speed of their planet? That's a pretty impressive amount of energy at her disposal. Like, she could sneeze and level a mountain range.
But does she predate their planet? Or did she somehow take control over the natural day & night cycles, making the entire world dependent on her for its continued existence? Princess Celestia is looking a bit sinister.
Like, Twilight Sparkle sends her a letter saying that maybe the old legend about her imprisoning her sister for *1000 YEARS ON THE MOON* is true, and she immediately responds by sending T.S. away to a small town to supervise the buffet.
Also apparently pegasus ponies can control the weather by punching clouds. Which are car-sized and hang out at an altitude of about 10 meters.
Oooo Nightmare Moon has a prehensile mane!
But how does she speak the same language as the other ponies after being alone for 1000 years? All she has is a slight accent. The languages should be mutually unintelligible by now.

So Nightmare Moon has the power to Stop the Sun from rising (how??) but rather than finish the ponies off herself, she turns into a thorn and sticks herself into a manticore's sweaty paw to make it cranky?
And wait, Twilight Sparkle spent all episode stumbling in the dark and almost falling off cliffs, when she has the power to make her horn glow and to freaking teleport?
Also why are horses, bison, and zebras sentient, yet you can own deer as pets?
I was gonna say that it's some weird quirk of biology where deer can't talk, but a quick glance over this wiki page reveals that Equestria has some major sociopolitical issues. Deer CAN talk. As can cattle. Who live in barns. mlp.wikia.com/wiki/Animals
But Twilight Sparkle is a grad student and Princess Celestia is her very difficult research advisor and you'll never convince me otherwise
