A THREAD:

READ YOUR ASSIGNED CHAPTER READINGS. If yo aren't going to read the chapter readings & I MEAN READ NOT SKIM; then click off of this thread. This is for students that want to make an A. This is NOT advice for slackers. PERIOD.
Read your chapters 3 times. Just hear me out..
1st read through: look at the headings, titles and define any unfamiliar words. A word bank per chapter written in your own words helps you understand what you're about to read AND you won't have to study vocabulary later.
If your professor is nice enough to make a practice quiz for you, complete it REPEATEDLY. That practice quiz will likely mimic your upcoming exam. And if they don't, MAKE YOUR OWN PRACTICE QUIZ. Practice quizzes are 1 of the most efficient ways to test your knowledge.
Ask for permission to record your lecture.
1. You'll get tired of reading. So having something beneficial to listen to will help.
2. You can listen to your lessons while driving, walking or getting ready. Kill 2 birds w/ 1 stone.
3. Free study materials.
I feel like this needs to be said, TAKE YOUR ASS TO CLASS. Are you REALLY going to pay thousands to attend a school, JUST to skip class? REALLY?
Alright so, when it comes to taking notes; don't try to write down verbatim what the professor says. THIS is why you should record lectures. You should focus on things they emphasize on; a diagram, a chart, a timeline, vocab, historical figures & major concepts.
If your prof. Is talking about plants & you already learn about eudicot & dicot in lab, DO NOT take those notes. Instead, focus on the parts you Don't know; types of roots, xylem/ phloem or even the diff. In male & female plants.
Get to know at least 2 of your classmates. They may be able to explain a concept that you didn't understand in lecture or by reading. And YES, it will happen.
Just wait until you have to calculate Half-lives using radioactive carbon dating and your counting by billions .
Good luck on the upcoming semester. 🗣
