ALSO KNOWN AS “OBATALA” OF THE YORUBA FEDERATION WORLDWIDE

In the beginning OLODUMARE(GOD) Created the heavens and all the planets in the universe,
He also created the positive and dynamic powers of the heavens, known as the IRUNMOLES (the great and extremely positive divinities) led to the earth by the personality of OBATALA.

The divinities are entities created by OLODUMARE to justify his own glory, nature and his phenomenal status in creation.

The name OBATALA is derived from the words: OBA TI O NI ALA, meaning THE KING IN THE WHITE APPAREL, THE LORD OF PURITY, THE KING WITH DISTINCTIVE BOUNDARY
He is also known as ORISAALA or ORISANLA, which means the great divinity, or ‘the one of most grandeur’.

OBATALA was sent from OLODUMARE to earth to create humans in their multitude from the dust of the earth

He was given the grace to do that

History has it that when OBATALA created humans, both male and female, he became thirsty, instead of drinking water from the river of OLODUMARE, he decided to drink earthly wine ,

which made him very intoxicated , then he started creating humans with deformity , some with 5 fingers , one eye(cyclop) , some with different skin color , Albinos and dwarfs

When he became sober, he was unhappy at what he has done, He couldn’t undo his creation because humans had already started multiplying. He then made a vow to OLODUMARE, that he would never taste alcohol again.

That is why till this day, It is TABOO for OBATALA’S worshipers to drink strong wine or alcohol during his rituals. Palm Oil and salt must not also be used to prepare food during his initiation

OBATALA lived among humans for a very long time, he had so many children, amongst them is the great and beautiful YEMOJA. Yemoja gave birth to Osun - the second wife of the great thunder God

IGBIN (SNAIL)
AKE EWURE (GOAT PLACENTA)
OBI (KOLANUTS)
ATAARE (ALLIGATOR PEPPER)
OROGBO (BITTER KOLA)
OMI (WATER)
