ORANMIYAN OMOLUABI ODEDE

THE GREAT PRINCE OF THE YORUBA TRIBE WORLDWIDE
ODUDUA was not only the first ruler of a unified ile Ife but was also the progenitor of various independent royal dynasties of the Yoruba kingdom, and is today venerated as "the hero, the warrior, the leader and father of the Yoruba race".
Through a war lasting many years, Oduduwa was able to defeat the forces of a 13 indigenous communities , these communities were formed into a single Ife state.
He held the praise names Olofin Adimula, Olofin Aye and Olufe. His name, phonetically written by Yoruba language-speakers as Odùduwà and sometimes contracted as Ooduwa, Odudua or Oòdua, is generally ascribed to the ancestral dynasties of Yorubaland
because he is held by the Yoruba to have been the ancestor of their numerous crowned kings. Following his posthumous deification, he was admitted to the Yoruba pantheon as an aspect of a primordial divinity of the same name.
Names of children in Yorubaland are often reflected by the circumstances surrounding their parents or birth.
Odudua begat a SON named Okanbi(only child), who begat 7 others

1.       Orangun of Ila,
2.       Alaketu of Ketu
3.       Olupopo of Popo
4.       Onisabe of Sabe
5.       Olowu of Owu
6.       Owa Obokun Adimula
7.       Oranmiyan
ORANMIYAN , meaning Oran mi ti yan ju (My problems have been solved)
Decades ago, The Edo chiefs, who had earlier requested for spiritual and political direction from their oracle after the death of Ogiso Owodo of Edo Kingdom, were directed to ODUDUA, who gave them Oranmiyan to serve as their king.
Oduduwa gave Oranmiyan , his staff as a symbol of Authority.
He however met opposition from the kindred of the Ogiso, and was refused entrance into the city upon his arrival there. Oranmiyan camped at a place called Uselu (Ose ilu), meaning "making of a city" , and began to rule the Bonus.
His foreign style of management didn't go down well with the chiefs, and they sent agents to spy on him. All this made Oranmiyan declare that only a son of the soil can cope with the attitude of the Igodomigodo people and call the land "Ile tin bini nu", meaning "Land of Vexation
On leaving Ile-Ibinu (which later became Ibini, and changed to "Benin" by the Portuguese), he stopped briefly at Ego where he took Erinwide, the daughter of the Enogie (or duke) of Ego, as a wife who begat a son called Eweka.
Oranmiyan, or Oromiyan as pronounced by the Edo people, is recognized as the first Oba of Benin kingdom and founder of the Eweka dynasty, which is still ruling today.
This is said to be why there is a strong relationship between the Yoruba people and the Benin

So don't blame that Edo sister who is madly in love with that Yoruba brother, or that Yoruba brother who is obsessed about that Edo sister , history cannot be defeated !
After leaving Benin at about 1290, he headed north with his ever loyal entourage and settled close to the river Moshi , He founded a city there, Oyo-Ile, which his descendants then expanded into the mighty and great Oyo Empire.
He engaged in war with the Bariba, his immediate neighbors to the north, and subsequently married Torosi, a Tapa princess, who became mother to Sango olukoso Akata Yẹri-Yẹri, ina lenu , ara lenu ake
ILE IFE was the final resting place of Prince ORANMIYAN, A 5.27 metre-high Oranmiyan staff made of granite with iron studs is in a grove he was buried in, located within the Mopa area of Arubidi in Ile-Ife.
Whenever a new Ooni (king) comes into power, he receives his staff of office from the grove.
