It's a matter of priorities.

You are offering a Marxist view that economics are the only political and social force and all answers are found by arriving at a system of equitible distribution. Kill the corps and society will evolve along egalitarian lines.

I reject that.

Economic fairness does nothing about racism, sectarianism, misogyny.

Feeding everyone, and housing them would solve many problems, but the net social relief would be minimal and of short duration.

Corporations need not be destroyed. They serve a logical purpose.
What we need to better regulations and greater oversight. And also am understanding that corporations receive benefits for the service they provide to society so long as they abide by accepted practices and all regulations.

You can dream of a world free of corps, but no.

It's really not that complicated. How we got here and the things that happened to get us here may be complicated, but it doesn't take more than a kindergarten level education to understand the 'when all is said and done' reality.

If you don't think that @HillaryClinton or the people around her, many of whom were brilliant & socially conscious POC, didn't know of or understand the data you're referencing then you know nothing of HRC.

You certainly don't seem to recall the finer details of 2016 and, despite your claims to understand the particular pressures she was under, refuse to give those pressures their proper due.

In an election filled with fake news & populist hyperbole from the far right & left..

I totally disagree.

I've listened to @HillaryClinton speak passionately about race for three decades.

Race and racism were a central focus of her 2016 campaign.

She didn't speak about it just every once in awhile @amikegreen, she spoke about it every single day of the campaign.

In fact, race and criminal justice was the topic of her first policy paper for the campaign, which she presented in April 2015.

@stevenmklein One problem is terminological. (Polanyi has relatively little to say on enclosure but is important to this in another way) Marx, Tawney & Marxist "transition debate" ppl talk about the separation of peasants from their means of subsistence, of which enclosure was only one way BUT
@stevenmklein (1) 'enclosure' has a specific meaning in agrarian history & is not synonymous w dispossession but a particular phase of enclosure history (Parliamentary enclosures post-1750) has alwys been controversial, this is what Thompson referred to as "plain enough case of class robbery")
@stevenmklein (2) the so-called "Tudor enclosures" (conversion of arable lands into pasture) were associated by contemporaries with mass vagrancy -- the famous Thomas More "sheep ate men" -- even though current scholarly opinion largely does not attribute vagrancy to enclosures

I was on the air while today's school safety presentation was taking place. Having now caught up, here's my stance:

Not giving up my due process rights.

Adults can and should be able to exercise their constitutional rights.

Gun bans don't work. In fact, I believe in general that supply side gun controls (laws restricting legal access in hopes of stopping criminals) are not nearly as effective as efforts to reduce demand among criminals.

2/
I believe imposing an age limit of 18 to use social media would be far more useful for helping kids grow up mentally healthy than an age limit of 21 to purchase a firearm.
