Trump could go up for the State of the Union, give the white power OK, say nothing but the 14 words, Seig Heil, sit, and the next day the news would be all “some are noting what they believe to be a coded racist message, here to discuss it are Ann Coulter, Joe Arpaio, and Satan.”
Bottom line: there is a market for comfortable self-delusion, and the market is competitive.
