As noted in Louise Mensch's story from November 7, 2016, a FISA was granted on U.S. persons in Trump's campaign with ties to Russia.
As also noted, in the FISA warrant drawn up in June 2016, it initially named Donald Trump. It was rejected.
Also as noted, on October 14, 2016, Michael Morell, former Deputy Director / Acting Director of the CIA, said "The thing I'm deeply concerned about is that the people around Donald Trump, the Paul Manaforts, the Roger Stones, the Carter Pages..."
The Guardian also, independently, confirmed that the stories of Louise Mensch and BBC News are correct. Julian Borger wrote the article on February 17, 2017.
As Louise Mensch noted, on January 28, 2017, three names on the first FISA request had Twitter accounts known to her - she did not know Carter Page had a Twitter account.
Louise Mensch suggested that the Central Intelligence Agency received information from the European Union and MI6 before the FISA warrant was granted.

All media outlets, which were getting leaks from places such as the FBI, the CIA and Capitol Hill, are then researching all of this information in the background (as The New York Times established in their own opinion pieces) because they were helping intelligence agencies out.
