1. I said I would write a thread about this last night when I first saw it, so here it is. Rod Rosenstein's answer to questioning by Rep. John Ratcliff of Texas:

2. Now, I like @RepMattGaetz, but when he questioned Peter Strzok about this during Strzok's testimony, it was clear that he did not pay close attention to Rod Rosenstein's answer here - and the internet went wild drawing the exact wrong conclusion from Gaetz' line.
3. The first part of Rosenstein's answer is about Mueller.

"I can assure you that Mueller well understands credibility issues, in determining whether or not to rely upon a person. We're not going to talk publically about the substance of the actions Mueller took"
4. "Director Mueller has taken appropriate steps". Good.
5. "As you know, the purpose of an investigation is to determine whether or not there is sufficient evidence to prove a case in court. If you're going to court, and with a piece of evidence/relying upon a witness, You need to know any issues re: credibility of the witness
6. "OR the credibility of the evidence. If Mr. Mueller were to rely upon A DOCUMENT THAT MR. STRZOK PRODUCED, or a statement that he took, or were to call him as a witness, obviously he would need to consider evidence that would tend to impeach (Strzok's) credibility"

Boom.
7. "Director Mueller WELL KNOWS THAT"

Double boom. Wonder why they are annihilating Strzok's credibility as a witness? The guy is totally a liability now, by design.
8. "Director Mueller and I learned about this issue at the same time, from the IG in last July. It was our understanding that the IG was conducting an investigation - so the fact that Mueller didn't question him was probably appropriate in light of that."
9. "I don't think it took Director Mueller very long after seeing those text messages to decide what was the right thing to do"

Yeah, so fuck Balding Strzok's "he didn't fire me because of the bias!" BS. Mueller got rid of him right away because ofbias, not just the appearance.
10. This confirms something that I've been thinking about Mueller for a while - his entire case is foundationally built on evidence from people that are tainted.

11. Mueller now has the challenge of creating a credible investigation on a bunch of poisoned fruit gathered by crooks. Not easy - he will be very careful who he brings anything against.
12. Not only that, but he is abiding by DOJ rules in not talking to Strzok about the texts - a sign that he is operating in coordination with IG and DOJ at large in good faith. That is great news for us, in an environment where everyone is scared that Mueller is a rogue agent.
13. Here's what you have to understand - Rosenstein comes from a world where a good DEFENSE is the best OFFENSE. That is the opposite of Trump and traditional logic, but that's how the battlefield is in the legal realm.
14. In law, whoever has the most strict adherence to the rules usually wins. Whoever dots the i's and crosses the t's most effectively has the strongest case.
15. The reason Rosenstein comes off to some as smug in these hearings is a misinterpretation. Rod Rosenstein is BULLETPROOF, and he KNOWS IT. He is an absolute expert (genius) at creating armor for himself by following all rules and process to the letter.
16. On this battlefield of our war against "the deep state", Rod Rosenstein is one of THESE guys 👇
17. His absolute obsession with thinking of every attack angle, every possible argument, and defending against it, will give him the confidence necessary to defuse the bomb that we call the "palace coup attempt"
18. I really wish Matt Gaetz, and as many other people as possible, would slow down and really try to listen and pay attention. Emotions are too charged and it is blinding people to the truth.
