After posting about the 13 "trutherbot" accounts we found a few weeks back, @ZellaQuixote and I explored further and found more. This thread won't be a deep dive into those accounts; the focus will be on how we repurposed a disinformation bot avenue to counter disinformation.
First, a little background on our exploration of the trutherbot phenomenon. By searching the follower networks of the original 13 accounts for automated accounts with names containing "truther", we were able to expand the set to 372 accounts.
The first account was @trutherbot, which was active from Jan 2012 to July 2015, when it was suspended. The tweets visible on Internet Archive are a mix of memes, conspiracy theories, and requests for bitcoin. A number of other trutherbots were created following the suspension. 
We also found an open source project for creating and deploying a trutherbot. The bots created by this app tweet memes and plain text tweets on a timer. The set of tweets and memes used by the bot can be managed via a simple web application.
We decided to deploy our own trutherbot using this software, but to create a bot focused on countering disinformation and raising awareness of propaganda.
Meet @trutherbotprop. This bot tweets one meme and one quote about propaganda, disinformation, and/or media manipulation once per hour. Our aim with this account is to exploit an existing disinfo phenomenon to instead provide content that can be used to fight against propaganda.
We've been steadily adding content to @trutherbotprop and will continue to do so. On that note, if there are quotes and/or memes that you believe fit the theme and would like to see added, we encourage you to leave them as replies to this thread.
