An Amazon Prime subscription is $99 a year and requires additional purchases to receive books. Irondequoit homeowners pay under $30 in taxes to support the library and can borrow as many books as they'd like for free.
We're just librarians, not economists like the author of the essay, but we're pretty sure $30 < $99.
