I could be wrong but I cannot imagine that a white dude who does what I do would have to put up with half the crap that I do. I'm going to stop doing any of it. I'm tired. It should not be this difficult to get support to do my job.
The problem is that I don't have a wife. And this job is still predicated on having one who books the travel, manages the social life of work, types the documents, etc. And those actually can't be hired out. There is no system for that in academic labor.
I cannot, for instance, have someone manage my calendar and travel. The uni gmail won't give access, they can't access uni travel services, and I can't afford to have a fte employee who could get that access. So I book my flights, manage the paperwork, manage the calendar etc
And it is all bullshit.
I cannot even get copies made. I'm already tired and it's not August yet. Just imagining has me tired.
And all anybody wants me to do is more with less, as if I wasn't already routinely performing miracles.
I am about to cancel everything for the year that does not come with my travel already booked for me. If people cannot get me there then I can no longer do it.
Same with your requests for 5000 quick words that have deep expertise and also strong voice but you don't provide editing or research. Or any of your other requests for miracles. All cancelled.
