The Religious Liberty Task Force exists because many white evangelicals have confused sharing the public square with oppression and encountering disagreement with persecution.
In fact, one study showed that white evangelical Christians believe they are *more* discriminated against than Muslims, Jews, LGBT people, immigrants, and black people. This is, of course, a fantasy.
This persecution complex is fueled by an entire industry of books & movies ("God Is Not Dead" franchise, etc) that cast white evangelical Christians as victims even though, in reality, they enjoy incredible privilege. (Ironically, the Industrial Persecution Complex is BIG BUCKS!)
I'm convinced the Industrial Persecution Complex gave us Trump. It convinced millions of white evangelicals to operate out of fear rather than empathy and conviction.
It is, of course, incompatible with the teachings and example of Jesus to cling desperately to power and privilege at the expense of others.

White evangelicals (or at least 80%+ of them) have an agreement with Trump: You scratch our backs and we'll scratch your back. Refugees, Muslims, migrant children, and victims of assault be damned. That's what today is about. And it's a disgrace to the name of Jesus Christ.
It’s also a disgrace to the Christians who face very real persecution in other parts of the world or who live in counties where “religious liberty” only protects the select few...like Russia, for example.
