Each person should strive in his or her capacity to earn the pleasure of Allaah in ways approved by Allaah.
The little things that matter are what most people overlook. Put a smile on the face of distressed person, talk to people nicely and try not to demoralize anyone.

Qur'an 9:120

Surely, Allaah wastes not the reward of the doers of good.

(Certainly We shall not make the reward of anyone who does his (righteous) deeds in the most perfect manner to be lost)
There is no end to how much good we can do, there is just so much avenues to earn the pleasure of Allaah. You see someone drenched in his sweat by the road side, by Allaah, if you are able to, help him..his prayers on your behalf will be magical.
Islam is so beautiful that one needs not to be rich before he can help. Your kind words, your sincere prayers for your brothers, your humility towards them and your compassion for them is much more than the money you can give them.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "May Allaah have mercy on the one who is easy-going and generous whole buying, while selling and when demanding his rights." Recorded by al-Bukhari
You should be brothers one to another, treating each other with respect, without hatred and without working against each other in any way. This is the way a Muslim should think of himself he should think of himself as a member of a great brotherhood.
There is no need for--indeed, there is no room for - working against one another or trying to get ahead of each other in worldly realm. The goal is to please and serve Allaah. And that goal is partially met by treating each other properly and being brothers for the sake of Allaah

"Verily, the believers are but a brotherhood." Qur'an 49:10

Anything that works against this feeling of brotherhood, should be avoided.
"No Muslim servant (of Allaah) prays for his brother behind his back except that an angel says, 'And for you the same.'" Recorded by Muslim
"For whoever seeks forgiveness for the believing men& women, Allaah will record one good deed corresponding to every believing man and woman." Recorded by al-Tabarani, according to al-Albani it is hasan, Sahih al-Jami
This help and support of one's brother in Islam does not necessarily have to be with respect to some physical or material aspect. Also, if one's brothers honor is being attacked- like when he is being backbitten- then he should be defended.
"Whoever defends the flesh of his brother in his absence has a right upon Allaah to rescue him from the Fire." Recorded by Ahmad in his Musand, authenticated by al-Albani on Sahih Jaami'
