Race compositions published by Governments have a lot of problems. Here is a table published by the US Census bureau - which claims that 96.8% of American population belongs to one race and only 3.2% to 2 or more races

To my mind there are issues here

Firstly the definition of "Race" itself is problematic.

"White" is viewed as a single "Race" - a deeply problematic notion given that "White" is merely a shorthand for several races - Anglo Saxon, Celtics, Germans, Italians, East Europeans, the Middle Easterners among others
Very few whites in the US would be purely Anglo Saxon or purely Irish unless they are 1st generation immigrants.

So the fact is - most of the so-called White population is multi-racial
Even if one equates race with skin color as this census report does, the problems do not go away.

Eg: It is claimed that 12.7% of the population is "African American" as opposed to multi-racial
But genetic studies have shown that the average "African American" genome is 24% European! Here's a link

Despite this evidence, there is a homogeneous "black" identity that is claimed.
Notwithstanding these problems, there are some interesting facts in the census report -

Interestingly 1.2% of American population is estimated to be of "Asian Indian" ancestry (which possibly includes Pak / B'desh - needs corroboration). While the proportion of Chinese is 1.3%
This is very surprising given that Subcontinental emigration to US was practically non-existent before the 70s, while Chinese emigration has a long history going all the way back to mid 19th century.

Yet Indians have nearly caught up with Chinese in terms of numbers.
