Why must we always focus on our differences? How about we focus on all that unites us, starting with the fact that we are all Canadian, no matter your ethnicity, the colour of your skin, your religion. We are all Canadians looking for the same things ... 1/ 
prosperity, security, food on the table, a good education for our children, a just and lawful society. These are the values that unite ALL of us as Canadians. At the end of the day, we are more alike than we are different. I was blessed to be born in this country. My parents 2/
came here from another but they are every bit as Canadian as I. They wanted a better life and they worked hard to get it. Being Canadian brought them opportunities but also obligations. That's what this country is all about. We share values like equality, rewarding hard work, 3/
looking out for thy neighbour and respecting others. That's what unites us. And we are at our strongest when we come together, as we always do through times of great adversity, like the terrible events in Fredericton, and times of great success, like winning hockey gold. 4/
And we, as politicians, must ensure we are doing our best to fulfill our obligations to all Canadians to provide the fertile ground to allow everyone those opportunities to prosper, to advance their careers, to be safe and secure, to give their children a good education, to 5/
live in a just & lawful society that is respectful of our differences rather than using those differences to label and isolate people. Diversity is a part of who we are as Canadians, to be sure, but it isn't our strength. Unity is our strength. Let no one tear us asunder. 6/6
