Backstory: @SamHarrisOrg called @cpicciolini out for falsely accusing @StefanMolyneux of being a Holocaust denier.

Apparently, Christian is none too happy about this, and is now defaming Sam and @jordanbpeterson as white nationalists to boot
Addendum: after explicitly calling Sam and Jordan white nationalists, he apparently tried to clarify (retract) that statement:

Saying that Sam Harris and Jordan Peterson are "gateway drugs" to white nationalism is like saying John Rawls is a gateway drug to communism

First, I agree with French that the President does not have inherent, unilateral authority - as a constitutional matter - to build the wall.

That's the lesson of Youngstown (the Steel Seizure cases)

Trump must be able to point to statutory authority.
I also agree with French that 10 USC § 2808 doesn't provide the necessary authority, for the reasons French talks about. It would be very difficult to characterize the wall as a "military construction project."

First, 50 U.S.C. § 1621 gives the President the authority to declare a national emergency.

He must transmit the proclamation to Congress and publish it in the Federal Register.
50 U.S.C. § 1631 requires that the President specify the *other* statutes he intends to invoke to justify further actions.

We'll explore some of those other statutes in a few posts.

[Thread] Based on recent discussions with @SamuelSokol, @TarikCyrilAmar, and @AuschwitzMuseum over the continued debates regarding the "naming" of concentration camps in Poland, I've decided it's time for a thread, b/c this is not about history but the present in Poland.
What has many Poles (and state-run museums) up in arms, is ANY connection of the word "Poland" with Holocaust sites (and more broadly behavior- hence the "correction" above.) They particularly rail against the term "Polish" death or concentration camps. edition.cnn.com/2018/02/01/eur…
The argument is that Poles did not establish or run these camps...which is absolutely correct. But the problem is, no one really thinks Poles built Auschwitz, etc. Sure, there are ignorant people out there or some students, but I defy you to find a scholar making this argument.

Sidenote: The real intent behind the fake #Russiagate scandal was always to silence progressives, Greens, independents, etc. That's why the proponents of #Russiagate still come after the Greens/progs now, falsely accusing them of being right-wing, and they will continue to do so.
Another example of this same trend was the attack on @with_integrity in August which falsely labeled him right wing/alt right, despite the fact that he was a Bernie Sanders supporter.

Conservatives, including Ted Cruz, try to make the millions of Texas Democrats feel like they aren’t real Texans. Beto O’Rourke gave progressives a chance to reclaim their identity.

I'm still mad over one situation. In #DnD #LFR organized play, I playing an epic level artificer with all the warlord cheese

There was this man who constantly told me I was slow, and he was so insistent about it that he even convinced my friends at the table I was slow.
But look. I had pre-generated tables for every attack, with all normal modifiers.
I would set aside the exact number of dice before my turn, color dice coded per attack type.

I only even had dice applicable to the character. There was no die hunt
I was optimized.
