Seems like a good time for a reminder that no president facing concrete evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors has ever appointed a Supreme Court justice. Ever.
2/ Three presidents faced concrete evidence of serious felonies or high crimes: Andrew Johnson, Nixon’s 2d term, and Clinton’s 2d term. None appointed a Justice in those years.
3/ I wrote this up in Slate. A president with concrete evidence of high crimes has never appointed a Justice. Don’t start now with Kavanaugh: slate.com/news-and-polit…

When two sides hit a budget impasse, they pass continuing resolutions to continue status quo as negotiations continue.
Shutdowns happen since 1995 only when one side refuses CRs to change status quo...
2/ In 1995, Gingrich & Dole refused to pass a status quo continuing resolution. Their CR included Medicare premium increases, environmental deregulation & a balanced budget requirement.
Clinton held out for status quo and negotiation.
Conclusion: GOP caused shutdowns for 5 weeks.
3/ The 2013 shutdown was similar: Obama, McConnell, and Boehner had a deal for the basic status quo with some cutts, but Sen @tedcruz and the tea party House members blew up that deal in order to defunding the ACA.
Conclusion: the GOP caused a shutdown for two weeks.

1. President’s can be voted out. Supreme Court Justices can’t. They are in for life. As we’ve seen from multiple analyses, Judge Kavanaugh perjured himself on multiple occasions not just during his disastrous hyper-partisan hearing. There is no more important issue right now.
2. Yes this in in part about Roe. V. Wade, Marriage Equality, ACA access, labor rights and many other political issues but more fundamentally it’s about process, vetting, and further politicization of what should be our least political branch of government. It’s about credibility
3. If perjury is acceptable from those tasked with judging perjury we’re in a bad place. If we’re going to say that investigations into serious allegations don’t matter because someone is a “good person” in the no criminal area of their lives we’re in a bad place. Why?

1-The evening of the 22nd of June, Miss #SarahSanders (#WH press secretary) went for dinner with her family to this little place called ‘The Red Hen’. It seems that she was unceremoniously kicked out &harassed some more all the way across the street to the next restaurant
