1/ So, now we are being told by Mr Ambani that "not a single component" of the 36 Rafale aircraft purchased by India "worth a single rupee is to be manufactured by Reliance".
2/ This directly contradicts the press release by Dassault Aviation themselves at the time of the inauguration of the Mihan facility.

3/ And also what Mr Ambani himself said at Mihan during the foundation stone laying event, where he boasted about his company being the first company in the private sector in India to be the final assembly point of Rafale.

@arunjaitley 2/ Mr Jaitley spends half of his blog talking of "Delay". Not that this justifies a hasty bad decision by the current government even if it was true, but Mr Jaitley is FACTUALLY incorrect in some places.
@arunjaitley 3/ Let us refresh the memory of Mr Jaitley with an easy to grasp timeline. The key point to see here is that in such a complex purchase, decisions/actions where pending with IAF itself & Vendors too at various times.

Some lesser-known facts on Rafale deal which everyone must know:
1. During UPA rule, Sanjay Bhandari - a well known arms dealer and the biggest middleman involved in all defense procurement made in UPA rule - wanted 2strike a deal with Dassault for the Rafale.
2. When French company Dassault realised that Sanjay Bhandari was trying to use his influence via Robert Vadra to secure the deal, Dassault objected to it and threatened to back off.
3. It was then that UPA government put the deal on hold, as Dassault did not agree to tie up with Sanjay Bhandari, who is the closest associate of Robert Vadra. The whole aim was to make a huge commission for Vadra and Bhandari.

The @IAF_MCC will need to retire 11 MIG sqdns by 2030 or around 198 jets , another 200 jets retire ~2035. We need to replace 400jets to maintain current lvls by 2035. For 42 sqdns add 200 jets . @RahulGandhi pls can you tell us how you'll cover that with @HALHQBLR 1/n #Rafale
The NDA plan is to have @HALHQBLR build at least 250 #LCA variants in three lines ( two lines funded by #Modi ) with each line building 8jets/annum starting 2020.
Another 350 #aircraft will have to come from 1-2 other privately owned firms or be imported. 2/n
If we kill private #military #aircraft #manufacturing today we will have to import ~300 jets in the next 10-15 yrs which will cost #India anything between 45-60$bn . Each 1$bn invested creates at least 6000 jobs today , this import alone will cost us 360,000 jobs 3/n

For the last 24 hours I've been texting & calling with refugees in Libya. 500 are apparently stuck in a Tripoli prison w/o food & water after heavy fighting broke out two days ago. They say their guards ran away, leaving them alone.
These refugees are men, women & children. They tried to cross the Mediterranean earlier this year, but were found by Italian boats, who turned them over to the EU-backed Libyan coastguard, who put them in prison. The conditions were already terrible before the fighting started.
Oh the phone earlier I could hear children crying & what sounded like bombing in the distance. The refugees say everyone's incredibly frightened. "We hear machine guns, tanks, big bombs, last night from the roof it was all fire."

Let’s say GoI wants to utilise its spectrum resources (which is a national resource belonging to people of India) for development purposes. Ideally this is done by state owned telecommunications companies for various reasons - major being that of national security. #2GScamVerdict
Now if state telco lacks expertise or funding it is sourced from private sector. Since Liberalisation & Privatisation GOI chose to auction spectrum whereby Govt sold licences to transmit signals over specific bands & assigned scarce spectrum resources to private/foreign players.
