As @JackPosobiec points out, it was an INTERNAL security test. "Michael Kan, a reporter for PCMag, determined that the unauthorized third party was the Michigan Democratic Party — technically a separate entity from the national group."
Nope.
It was a state branch of the Democrats doing a cybersecurity audit of the national party. This is actually what's SUPPOSED to happen during audits.
Well, given how much of a stink the DNC raised over cybersecurity, a state level group said, 'We need to do a cybersecurity audit before the midterms in case something like that happens again.' Smart and logical. I actually approve.
The DNC, still caught in the heat of 'Muh Russia', saw 'hack' and flipped the fuck out, believing they were in the midst of being hacked again, with PTSD flashbacks of 2016 happening all over again, and started claiming they were under attack again!
So, in what should be a SHINING MOMENT OF PRIDE, where the DNC said, 'What happened in 2016? Won't happen again, we're passing our internal cybersecurity audits!', instead they look DUUUUMB
This is HUGE. This miscommunication between the state parties and the DNC were one of the major reasons they LOST in 2016.
