Since Jessica was good enough to bring up Paxton and Empower and declare "He's their man", I thought I pull together a mini-thread and few pie charts to help illustrate that fact. #txlege
In the 2014 election cycle, Ken Paxton was running for AG for the first time. From 01/01/2013 - 12/31/2014, Paxton raised:
$8,323,245 from 3,951 donors
$4,443,856 (53%) from the top 100 donors
$1,098,470 came from ET World (DOES NOT include a $1,000,000 loan from ET) #txlege
When you look at the Ken Paxton 2014 election cycle, the ET World money breaks down as:
Empower Texans - $402,470 (does not include a $1,000,000 loan from ET to Paxton)
ET9 (major ET donors) - $600,000
ETR (ET related donors) - $96,000
Total - $1.1m
2014 - He's their man #txlege
In the 2016 election cycle, Ken Paxton wasn't running for re-election, just fundraising. From 01/012015 - 12/31/2016, Paxton raised:
$3,750171 from 1,331 donors
$2,717,101 (72.5%) from the top 100 donors
$555,000 (20% of top 100) came from ET World
#txlege
When you look at the Ken Paxton during the 2016 election cycle, the ET World money breaks down as:
Empower Texans - $0
ET9 (major ET donors) - $435,000
ETR (ET related donors) - $120,000
ET World Total - $555,000
2016 - He's still their man (just not as obviously)
#txlege
In the 2018 election cycle, Ken Paxton is running for AG again. Is ET World still in his ear? From 01/01/2018 - 06/30/2018, Paxton raised:
$4,314,720 from 932 donors
$3,176,312 (73.6%) from the top 100 donors
$596,000 (19% of top 100) came from ET World
#txlege
When you look at the Ken Paxton 2018 election cycle so far, the ET World money breaks down as:
Empower Texans - $0
ET9 (major ET donors) - $511,000
ETR (ET related donors) - $85,000
ET World Total - $596,000
2018 - He's their man (2nd verse, same as the 1st)
#txlege
Something I observed putting these charts together. Notice that Paxton goes from having just over 50% of his dollars coming from the top 100 donors (and almost 4,000 donors), up to 72.5 in 2016, and now 73.6% in 2018. That's special interests buying up a politician. #txlege
