This tweet is quite interesting to me, considering this “respectful time” is only being pushed for now that they won’t get their way.

Today, I’d like to tell you all a bit about Merrick Garland. (THREAD)
As the Chief US Circuit judge, Merrick Garland was considered by many to be a good Supreme Court pick during the Obama era.

Namely, @senorrinhatch , who called him “a consensus nominee” and said he would work with Obama on that nominations
While Obama did not nominate him at this time, with the death of Scalia came an open seat.

HOWEVER!

Senate Republicans then released a statement that they would not consider any nominees to the Supreme Court, with a YEAR left in Obama’s presidency.
Orrin Hatch, of course, predicted that Obama would nominate someone the Democrats want, even though he could be nominating Garland, a “fine man”.

So Obama nominated Garland.
What’d he receive in turn? No hearings, no votes, no action whatsoever.

When you hear them speak of “respectable times”, ask them:

Where was the respect for Merrick Garland?

Something tells me this isn’t about respect, or bipartisanship.
