I used to be obnoxious about my WOKE views on gender/sex being constructs and tell trans people in threads on trans issues that discussions about their civil rights were pointless. I still believe the former to a large extent, but society don't, which is why we need the latter.
I didn't phrase/think it in the blunt 'SCREW YOUR RIGHTS!' way, but it's basically the implication when telling people not to concerned about certain issues they probably should be concerned about.
I still see my brain forming those same cycles. I'm reading back on a discussion I had with a Jewish person *last week* about antisemitism and am finding myself unbelievably obnoxious. I agree with the points Last Week Me made, but the attitude/approach/tone is *so* inappropriate
This is my main issue with Sam Harris. A lot of what he says on topics he is a legit expert on is sensible, smart and compassionate, but he runs his mouth on shit he doesn't get at all with that same sense of earned arrogance and intellectual weight. Know when to listen.
Joe Rogan and Sam Harris have *many* faults (to say the fucking least), but they're also by far the most redeemable of the IDW, which in some ways makes it more frustrating. I don't expect anything from Rubin. There's nothing behind those eyes. He can never disappoint me.
My views on Sam Harris are very conflicted for the very reason that I do honestly believe he has a conscience, which makes it gob-smacking he lacks the self-awareness as to how several hour-long talks on the connection between race and IQ could be potentially misused. SHUT. UP.
If your audience keep pushing you to discuss the Race/IQ correlation, PAUSE FOR A SEC. His complete ignorance of class/imperialist/geopolitical conditions on how people will fit a fucking IQ test is dangerously dumb, but I'm even more disturbed by how irresponsible he is.
